The ten largest employers accounted for 24% of postings. Twelve employers with 11 or more postings each covered 192 roles (27%), while 138 employers posted once.

Uganda's STEM job market posted 673 qualifying listings in the second quarter of 2026, spread across sixteen categories and more than 260 distinct employers. The quarter's headline is not growth but deceleration: overall posting volume fell in each successive month.

On formal education, a bachelor's degree was the default baseline across the large majority of postings. PhD requirements (31 mentions) noticeably outnumbered explicit master's-degree requirements (9); but this is not a sign that doctoral qualifications are broadly preferred over master's degrees. It's concentrated: nearly all of the PhD mentions trace back to Academia postings.

Of the 261 organisations hiring directly in Q2, 149 posted exactly once. The market's headline volume is driven by a small set of repeat, high-frequency employers.

Of the 202 Q1 listings analysed, 168, more than 83%, specified a Bachelor’s degree as either a minimum or preferred qualification. That figure alone defines the baseline expectation of Uganda’s formal STEM jobs market: a university degree is not a differentiator, it is the entry ticket.

Across Q1, JobHunter Ug. covered 120 organisations posting at least one STEM vacancy ICT led both in volume of jobs (67) and in the sheer number of distinct hiring organisations (44), a ratio that underscores just how broadly distributed ICT demand is. Engineering followed with 28 unique hirers across 37 postings, and Health & Medical brought 23 organisations for 33 roles.
