SUMMARY: FHI 360 is seeking a Technical Officer, Polio to support the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems Activity in Uganda. The role focuses on polio surveillance, laboratory strengthening, case detection, technical coordination, and support to country-level implementation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support implementation of STRIDES polio activities at country level.
Provide technical support in polio surveillance, case detection, laboratory operations, biosafety, specimen management, and data quality.
Coordinate with technical teams, government counterparts, local partners, donors, and global health stakeholders.
Assist in developing tools, guidance, learning products, work plans, reports, and technical presentations.
Support training, mentoring, and capacity-building activities for country-level teams and partners.
Monitor technical deliverables, identify implementation risks, and support quality assurance.

Requirements
Master’s degree or international equivalent in health, life sciences, international development, or a related field.
At least 6 years of relevant experience in designing and evaluating applicable programmes or services.
At least 3 years of public health experience, especially in developing countries, with focus on disease eradication, surveillance, or infectious disease control.
Experience with polio eradication programmes and large-scale public health initiatives involving polio surveillance is required.
Experience in polio surveillance, laboratory support, Global Health Security, publications, presentations, reports, or manual/tool development.
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Juba Arabic or other local languages is highly desirable.
