SUMMARY: Simlaw Seeds Company is seeking a Senior Plant Technician to support seed processing operations in Uganda. The role focuses on hybrid maize and vegetable seed processing, equipment setup and optimization, quality compliance, stock movement coordination, and maintenance of processing records and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement seed processing schedules for hybrid maize and vegetable seeds to support timely and efficient operations.
Perform seed cleaning, grading, handling, and treatment processes in line with quality and safety standards.
Set up, calibrate, and optimize processing equipment to improve efficiency and reduce defects and downtime.
Coordinate stock movement of maize seed batches from processing to distribution.
Maintain accurate processing records for traceability, reporting, and internal control purposes.
Support quality control, routine maintenance, staff training, and compliance with company SOPs and national seed certification requirements.

Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Processing, Agricultural, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years of work experience, preferably in the seed industry.
Practical technical engineering skills with equipment exposure, especially in maize seed processing.
Ability to work in high-volume and fast-paced environments.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong leadership skills, integrity, and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
