SUMMARY: The Public Service Commission is seeking an Assistant Commissioner to support environment support services at national level. The role focuses on environmental policy, standards development, monitoring, coordination, technical guidance, project supervision, and liaison with environmental stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support initiation, formulation, and review of national environmental policies, legislation, and strategies.
Support development and setting of national standards for the environment sector.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of Local Governments, parastatal organisations, NGOs, and private sector actors.
Support coordination, inspection, supervision, resource mobilisation, and compliance monitoring for environment management.
Provide technical advice to Local Governments and other stakeholders.
Coordinate national environmental management projects and support liaison with regional and international environmental agencies.

Requirements
Honours bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or another Water Sciences field.
Master’s degree in Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or another water-related discipline.
Minimum of 9 years of relevant working experience, including 3 years at Principal Water Officer level in Government.
Registration with the Uganda Engineers’ Registration Board is required for applicants with engineering degrees.
Postgraduate Diploma in Management or Administration is an added advantage.
