SUMMARY: Makerere University School of Public Health is seeking 24 Research Assistants to support field activities under the Win-Win in the Wetlands for Climate Resilience Project. The role focuses on health-related data collection, community engagement, interviews, focus group discussions, observations, environmental assessments, and electronic data submission.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support fieldwork schedules and engage community entry points.
Explain study objectives to participating communities and institutions.
Participate in training on data collection, quality assurance, and ethical conduct.
Pre-test and refine qualitative and quantitative study tools.
Conduct field data collection, interviews, focus group discussions, observations, and environmental assessments.
Ensure completeness, accuracy, confidentiality, secure handling, and upload of collected data.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Medical or Laboratory Sciences, Environmental Health Sciences, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience in data collection for health, medical, or environmental research projects.
Skills in quantitative and qualitative data collection, including interviews, FGDs, surveys, and observational methods.
Valid certificate in Good Clinical Practice.
Fluency in at least one of Rufumbira, Rukiga, Runyankore, Iteso, Lumasaba, Lunyole, Jopadhola, Lusoga, or Lugwere.
Experience using mobile/electronic data collection tools such as ODK, Kobo, or SurveyCTO is desirable.
