SUMMARY: Yalelo Uganda is seeking a Fish Health Technician to support fish health monitoring, laboratory analysis, and biosecurity oversight across hatchery, nursery, and grow-out operations. The role focuses on sample collection and analysis, support to health trials, biosecurity monitoring, and accurate data reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collect fish samples from hatchery, nursery, and grow-out stages according to established protocols.
Conduct external and internal health assessments and record fish health indicators.
Support testing and tracking of sex ratios and report findings accurately.
Assist with implementation of fish health and prophylactic trials, including sampling and adherence to trial protocols.
Assess and report biosecurity risks and non-compliance, and support corrective actions.
Maintain accurate data records, prepare routine reports, and support laboratory cleanliness, safety, and sample handling.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries & Aquaculture, Veterinary Medicine, Zoology, or a related field.
Basic understanding of fish health, biosecurity, and sampling techniques.
Basic laboratory and fish handling skills.
Good data recording and reporting skills.
Strong attention to detail, with an organised and disciplined work approach.
1–3 years of experience in aquaculture, laboratory work, or fish health is an added advantage.
