SUMMARY: The United Nations Environment Programme is seeking an Environment Statistics and Analysis Intern to support the Data Analytics, Statistics and Intelligence Section in Nairobi. The role focuses on environmental data processing, statistical analysis, metadata preparation, SDG indicator data collection, methodological research, and communication support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process and analyze available environmental data and statistics.
Support development and preparation of metadata for environmental indicators.
Support data collection on SDG indicators under UNEP custodianship.
Review statistical publications and assist in statistical methodological research.
Organize and support meetings with partners within and outside UNEP.
Support documentation repositories, website publication, communication materials, and outreach activities.

Requirements
Enrolled in a graduate programme, final year of a first university degree, or graduated within one year of the internship start date.
Field of study in statistics, environmental economics, environmental assessments, environmental monitoring, data science, or a related field.
Computer literacy in standard software applications.
Demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations.
Ability to work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Fluency in spoken and written English is required; knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
